Banco Manabí, founded in 1978 as Banco Comercial de Manabí (BCM) in Portoviejo, Ecuador, was created by small business owners to provide financial security to the province. Over time, it underwent a modernization and diversification of its services, moving its headquarters to Guayaquil and maintaining branches in Manabí. Currently, it focuses on offering innovative financial solutions for individuals and businesses, seeking to generate trust and opportunities. In March 2025, the bank announced its entry into the stock market, demonstrating its growth and the expansion of its financial tools, offering products such as savings accounts, various types of loans, credit cards, and term investments.
The Bank has sought to be an integral part of the fight against climate change, and with that in mind, has implemented environmental practices typical of this type of institution. But by seeking environmental leadership in the Ecuadorian banking sector, the bank has achieved its International Declaration of Carbon Neutrality® by 2025.
“It is the policy of the 100% Carbon Neutral Program® to partner in each country with companies that are leading the fight against climate change in each industrial sector and in each country. For us, and for Ambielegsa (our agents in Guayaquil), it has been a rewarding experience to work shoulder to shoulder with the environmental and management team at Banco Manabí, making them the first Ecuadorian bank to receive their international carbon neutrality declaration.” – Javier Segura M., COO LATAM, 100% Carbon Neutral Program®
