Our decision to partner with ClimeCo stems from their reputation as a leader in providing comprehensive solutions for greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and sustainability projects. ClimeCo’s expertise in carbon offset projects, energy efficiency, and environmental markets aligns perfectly with our goals to implement effective and measurable environmental strategies. By collaborating with ClimeCo, we aim to leverage their knowledge and resources to enhance our sustainability efforts and achieve tangible results in our environmental impact.
The International Lawyers Network (ILN) is actively engaged in a variety of initiatives aimed at combating climate change and promoting environmental sustainability:
Sustainable Conferences:
Our conferences and events have been paperless since 2022, significantly reducing paper waste. We prioritize venues that use sustainable practices, such as the Grand Kempinski Hotel Riga and The Palms Hotel & Spa in 2024. The Grand Kempinski Hotel Riga implements water-efficient appliances, offers vegan and vegetarian menu options, and maintains comprehensive recycling programs. The Palms Hotel & Spa is Green Globe-certified and recognized for its comprehensive sustainability practices. Their “Inspired by Nature Program” includes initiatives like eliminating single-use plastics, using eco-friendly toiletries, implementing energy-saving systems, and conducting beach cleanups.
Local and Sustainable Sourcing:
For event catering, we use locally sourced ingredients to minimize food miles and support local economies. This practice helps reduce the environmental impact associated with transportation and promotes sustainable agriculture.
Eco-Friendly Transportation:
We aim to minimize the carbon footprint of our events by choosing venues within walking distance of hotels and other event locations. When transportation is necessary, we use larger coaches to reduce the number of vehicles required and are exploring the use of electric transportation options.
Partnership with Dynamic Conferences & Events:
Dynamic Conferences & Events, our event partner, underwent their first full EcoVadis assessment in 2022, receiving a bronze medal and improving to silver across the three pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. They use carbon calculating software, TRACE, to track data and manage the environmental impact of our event activities.
Community and Environmental Partnerships:
During our conferences, we engage with local charities and sustainability initiatives. This includes support for organizations like SOS Children’s Villages and the United Way, contributing to social and environmental well-being.
Environmental Commitment in Miami:
Miami is placing sustainability at the forefront of its urban development, emphasizing initiatives such as beach clean-ups, volunteer days, and the Plastic Free 305 Program, aimed at reducing single-use plastics in local businesses. The city’s enhancement of green spaces contributes to biodiversity and improves the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Data Collection for Sustainability:
We collect data on sustainability and carbon emissions during conference registrations to measure the environmental impact of our events. This data helps us implement improvements and ensure a functioning planet, thriving society, and robust business model for the future.
Carbon Offsetting:
We offer carbon-offsetting options to our delegates as part of their conference registration and commit to carbon-offsetting as an organization. This initiative helps us and our delegates mitigate the environmental impact of our travel and activities, contributing to the reduction of our overall carbon footprint.
